Is there a way of looking at a canadian goose on a lake and seeing if it is male or female? Do the mate for life like swans?

A goose is always female .. were it male it would be a gander. :-)

With Canada geese, females tend to have shorter, curved necks……males have longer necks, more vertical/upright, but curved……I noticed this difference through casual observation of Canada geese…….These geese also appear to mate for life……. :-)

The male will have more predominate colors, the females one plain color and Yes they do mate for life and ducks do also and if the mate dies they are very dis trout. Unlike humans.

They do mate for life, but if you want to tell a male from a female, you have to grab it and check its hole for a penis.

The female will eventually lay eggs…….Otherwise, chicks will always swim behind the female.

The females are a little larger and rounder in shape, the males are a little smaller and more streamlined. So it helps if there are several in the same area to get an idea, but its easier to see the difference when they are on land.
