I do about 5 to 8 loads of laundry a week. I was wondering if anyone could tell me, how I would save by drying the laundry on a clothes line?

If a dryer runs 1 hour at 1000 watts that’s 1kwhour. if your dryer is 1500 watts that’s 1.5 kwh . If you run your dryer 5 times a week at 1.5kwh per that’s 7.5 kwh. If you look at your bill, you can figure out how much you are charged per kwh, and do the math to figure out how much money you will save.

It depends on what you pay for the electric, it will save some. When I was growing up we did not have an electric dryer, just clothes lines. The house would steam up when we dried inside during a rain storm but they would dry eventually. The sunlight will help sterilize the clothes.

i wash about the same amount of clothes and occasionally more and from experience drying clothes on the line does save a lot of electricity ! especially since there are lots of clothes to wash and dry….most of my neighbors now dry their clothes the same way.
