How To Prevent New, 100% Cotton Clothes From Shrinking When Hanging Them To Dry Is Not An Option?
Hi i will be washing my clothes ONCE on a two week study trip.
The clothes I want to bring are new, mostly 100% cotton, and most importantly, hanging them to dry after wash is not an option. (i will not be doing the washing personally and they will be transferred directly to the dryer after machine wash)
I still have roughly 2 weeks to figure out a way to PREVENT MY CLOTHES FROM SHRINKING.
help please?
I suggest that you wash your clothes yourself while you’re in the shower. Take a couple of items with you and wet them down then use a bar of ivory soap to clean them then rinse the soap away. Fold and roll the clothes to get as much water out as possible and then hang the clothes to dry in the shower (unless you’re sharing the bathroom) or in your room.
Most cotton clothing has been preshrunk so be sure that you check your labels to make sure that you’re not worrying over nothing. I’d use the above method for items that I was really worried about but otherwise your clothes will probably be fine.
my mother sets the drier to low heat and stops it about half way thru the dry cycle then sets a few shirts on a chair to finish drying i suggest you buy one size bigger so if it does shrink it will still fit you.
Don’t have the heat of the dryer too high.
Unless you’re willing to do your own laundry, you’re screwed.
You could always lay them flat on something. After they dry, iron them on low heat. Thats what I usually do and it works for me.
