• PostHeaderIcon I Have A New Black Leather Jacket. The Color Easily Rubs Off On Everything. How Can I Stop This?

The color rubs off even with 2 or 3 passes with a paper towell. If it gets wet then all the worse. I tried spraying with leather protector but this did not work. I am unable to return it, as I bought it in the US and I am in Canada, a couple thousand miles away. It’s a beautiful jacket so would really like to fix it before winter.

Suggest you contact a dry cleaners and ask them. They may have the answer.

Then you got stuk., with a cheap imination leather jacket. If wet gets worse; You probly cannot return it. What I would do is take the whole jacket put into a large pot or tub soak it in cold water, , , then drain it some. wash it this way 2 or 3 times, just using cold water, This will help get all the dye out and turn the jacket to one color, I do this with my dark cloths.,if needed. Then hang it out side to dry in side out on a hanger. Fluff it every now and then. Good luck Pem

First, I would wash it with saddle soap. You can get it in most grocery stores. It foams up and will take the majority of the excess dye off. Then I would polish it with a good leather preserver with mink oil. It will be a big job but it should work. Good luck.
