• PostHeaderIcon What Size Clothes Should I Buy For My Neice?

My neice is only 11lbs but she is turning 1 on the 21st of March. I want to buy her clothes for her birthday as she already has millions of toys. However, when I go into stores to buy her clothes theres all these lovely clothes for her age, but there not that ? clothes should I buy her?

Ask her mother what size she is wearing-if you buy 12 months clothes rest assured they’ll be too large. My son is little, too, he turned one right after X-mas so I asked my mom if she could tell people IF they wanted to buy clothes please buy 6-9 mos. Also my son often needs a different size top than bottom so sets don’t work well-he does well with mix and match tops/bottoms and overalls. Overalls and dresses would probably work well for your niece if she’s small since they don’t need to fit thru the waist.
So just ask mom. Also, board books are wonderful-I especially love the ones by Sandra Boynton.
EDIT-my son was 17 lbs at year, bigger but still very small. Perhaps this little girl was a premie. I know first hand it can be kind of hurtful when people make a big deal out of your child’s size.

You could get a voucher for mothercare, I prefer people to do this rather than buy my daughter clothes because they either get the wrong size, something she already has or something I wouldn’t put her in. Or a voucher for clarks shoes, they are expensive but the best so any contribution towards them would be great.

Was she premature? I’ve seen prem babies be around this weight at your niece’s age, I realise they’ve had an unfortunate start, but they are so sweet. Why not get 6mth to 1 year and she can grow into it? It will never come in wrong, it’s beyond belief how fast they grow and your brother and sister will kiss your feet for buying clothes instead of yet more toys.
What a thoughtful Aunt you are.

wow she must be tiny, was she a preemie?? my daughter was 10lbs 4 at birth !! maybe look at buying 3-6 month clothes but at places that sell older looking clothes for younger babies. eg Next (in UK) have a range of clothes that go from 0 months to 5 years and they are all the same so you could get a one year olds style of clothing but in a different size. if she is too tall for 3-6 month clothes then i would ask her parents what they suggest and what they normally do with regards to buying clothes, good luck, hope you find some x

You’ll have to go by what the weight says on the tags.
My daughter is almost 6 months, and weighs just under 11lbs and wears mostly 0-3 still. She is a preemie, was your niece one as well?
In some cases can wear newborn still, yet still can somewhat fit in 3-6 months (but it’s still every large, and I have to roll up pants and sleeves). It all varies from brand to brand, style to style. Some are cut wider, some have a longer leaner cut. I’d go by weight, and then look at the cut and compare it to how your niece is built.

Ask your bro/sis what size to get, who knows you might be able to help them out by getting something they need for your niece.
